It started out three years ago when Claire came up with the idea of going to a tree farm to pick out and cut a Chistmas tree. At first I thought, “why would you want to cut down a tree when you can pick one up around the corner at one of those Christmas tree parking lots?” Its more convenient. At least that’s what my family did when I was growing up until we bought the “fake Christmas tree.” But once we got out to the Christmas tree farm and actually cut a tree, I got to admit its one of those fun experiences you have to try at least once.
This year we went with our God daughter Jorja and the Espanols.
Santa’s Tree Farm in Half Moon Bay has over 640 acres of land and plenty of Christmas trees of all varieties. When you drive into the farm, you’re greeted with a warm smile from an elf and given a hand saw. Without any instructions you’re free to go. There are dozens of dirt trails to choose from and like a good “Choose Your Own Adventure” book, you just take the path that feels right…

Along the way, we found Santa and hopped into his sleigh for a ride around the farm.

Of ALL the trees to choose from, the girls (moms) found ONE tree that they both wanted. But being the good friends they are (since middle school), they agreed to let it go.

The Espanols found their tree…

…and the Nguyens found ours.

In the end, we were…

…one big happy family with pretty cool Christmas trees.

Nice whip… and matching hat for you and Easton! Awesome.
